About Us

Our Mission and History:

Chest of Hope is a nonprofit agency dedicated to breaking the cycle of domestic violence and building a community free of abuse.

In 2005, Chest Of Hope was founded by friends and volunteers as a small group dedicated to raising funds for orphans and women of domestic violence on a global level, however; The clear disparity between the growing numbers of domestic violence victims needing help and the limited programs available to assist them prompted Chest of Hope (COH) to expand its effort in 2012 to include direct crisis intervention services for individuals and families.

Today, Chest Of Hope’s comprehensive programs and services include a Safe Home counseling for victims and their children, court advocacy, and prevention and education efforts, including self-care education and our extensive teen dating violence prevention program  Challenges and Choices: A Choice for Hope). Each year, we work with several individuals through these programs, all offered free of charge. Chest of Hope’s' office are located in the city of Tracy California in San Joaquin County.

Our Philosophy
Chest Of Hope provides a safe, violence-free, supportive, self-help environment for individuals and families in crisis. Chest of Hope helps victims and children to recognize that their experience is shared and that the problem of domestic violence is social and political.

Chest Of Hope recognizes that sexism is a root cause of domestic violence, and as such, women are disproportionately the targets of this form of oppression. We also acknowledge that domestic violence is intrinsically linked to all systemic forms of violence, including heterosexism, cissexism, classism, racism, ageism, ableism, and sizeism. Domestic violence affects everyone and our programs support all persons, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, marital status, national origin, language capacity, or ability.
